(NEXSTAR) — In the U.S., roughly 1 million arrests are made annually for driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or both, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Outside of the physical consequences of impaired driving — data shows one person is killed every 45 minutes in a crash involving an alcohol-impaired driver — the legal consequences can be heavy. They can also vary by state. In South Dakota, for example, an impaired driver can lose their driver’s license for at least a month after their first driving under the influence offense. In Wisconsin, a driver can lose their license for six to nine months. If a child is in the car at the time of the offense, that can become a year to a year and a half, plus a jail sentence of five days to six months. In both states, it’s possible nobody knows the driver has been convicted. That isn’t necessarily the case for residents in the state between Wisconsin and South Dakota. All but one of the 30 of the Major League Baseball teams are hosting Pride Nights this season, most during Pride Month, which celebrates and supports LGBTQ+ culture and rights. The Texas Rangers are the only team without a Pride Night. But they say they are committed to making everyone feel welcome at all games.Have the Rangers ever hosted a Pride Night? No. In September 2003, two years after the Chicago Cubs hosted what is considered the first Pride game, the Rangers invited local LGBTQ+ groups to a game as part of a fundraising event, similar to what they do for all kinds of groups throughout each season. The Rockies (30-48) are stuck in the basement again, 16 1/2 games behind the D-backs.Diamondbacks president Derrick Hall has repeatedly said that he thought the team was another year from turning things around, but the players proved him wrong. The D-Backs look like the real deal, right now.The team from Phoenix rose from the ashes of truly bad baseball. In 2021, they finished 55 games out of first and were outscored by 204 runs.
