The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the discovery of a body inside a 55-gallon drum in Malibu Lagoon on Monday.A park worker first saw the drum floating by the Pacific Coast Highway bridge Sunday night but didn’t think much of it at the time, a spokesperson for the L.A. County Fire Department told KTLA.When lifeguards arrived at work Monday morning, they saw the drum in the lagoon and tried to pull it out at which point they discovered the body inside, officials said.Lifeguards discovered the body inside a 55-gallon drum on Monday. Officials with several different law enforcement agencies teamed up with a hotel chain to conduct a sting operation on a prostitution ring in Claremont, leading to the arrest of 16 individuals. Officers with the Claremont Police Department were assisted by the Monterey Park Police Department, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation and the Claremont Motel 6 to seek individuals looking to engage in prostitution, Claremont PD said in a release. During the operation, seven undercover officers posed as prostitutes and solicited subjects – who police referred to as “Johns” – who sought to engage in commercial sexual acts in the area of Indian Hill Boulevard and the 10 Freeway. OAKLAND — The California Highway Patrol continued to search Monday for a suspect in a shooting Saturday morning on an Interstate 980 onramp that left a woman who was passenger in a car with a gunshot wound to her chin, authorities said.The shooting happened about 4:07 a.m. Saturday on the 11th street onramp to the eastbound lanes of I-980.The CHP said the victim was a passenger in a white Lexus sedan. The victim and driver were the only occupants.The CHP said the two heard gunfire coming from the right side of their car before the woman was wounded in the chin.
